Following our stream of their new EP, PropertyOfZack is stoked to be doing a Track-By-Track with Light Years to further promote the release of Just Between Us. The EP will be out next Tuesday via Escapist Records and the band will be supporting the release all summer long on tour with Citizen and Turnover. To Live and Die
When we wrote this song we wanted to sum up the sound of Light Years. Fast, catchy, and with some groovy, moshy, two-step parts for the kids in the pit. Lyrically I wanted to write a song about touring, but without sounding cheesy and naming highways and cities that every band seems to do. I always think about if anyone will ever hear these songs we play in the future after we are all dead, it’s kind of weird to think about…super deep bro.
Scavengers
Tommy (our bassist) had came up with the main riff to this song a while ago, but it took a long time for the rest of this song to take shape. We were worried of sounding to pop-core on this song, but we said fuck it, we like how it sounds and I think it came out great. Lyrically the theme to Just Between Us has a lot to do with growing old and not knowing what the hell I am supposed to be doing, which can clearly be seen in the lyrics of this song. A lot of people my age have graduated college, have real life jobs, and are working on starting families. I honestly can’t imagine doing any of that anytime soon. So why not live it up while I still have that chance? Or do I just sound like an immature baby? You be the judge…
Evidence
This song is just a straight forward pop-punk song. Fast and catchy. It came together in a matter of hours in practice one day. Basically the song can be summed up by the lyrics in the end I’m sick of fucking this up..
Liar
We hear a lot of our peers bands slowing down there songs, and trying to be more and more like 90’s emo bands, which is cool and all, but we love the pop-punk of yesteryear and are not trying to slow down anytime soon. This song is really about just telling people what they want to hear cause it is easier than telling the truth, which I’m guilty of doing all the time. One day I’ll have no friends…
